How we’re protecting guests and staff during COVID-19

We would like to welcome you to our safe and clean environment in which to enjoy your visit with us. The following is our sanitization and cleaning protocol to ensure safe operational measures during your visit or stay with us.

Created June 14, 2020. This documents will be updated regularly based on Northwestern Health Unit requirements and in compliance with Northern Ontario Tourist Outfitters COVID-19 Best Practices for Safe Operation of Resource Based Tourism Businesses in Northern Ontario

Office/Reception

  • Signage requiring social distancing rules
  • Alcohol based hand sanitizer is available before entering the building and located at the entrance to the lodge
  • A Plexiglas guard has been installed at check-in counter
  • Directional signage to ensure safe flow of guests and customers in and out of the building
  • Floor signage to maintain social distancing
  • Where social distancing is not an option our staff will be masked
  • Masks available to our customers that prefer to wear one
  • Sanitizing procedures for disinfecting commonly touched surfaces ie: counter, till, POS terminal, the office door knob inside and out after each use with a bleach solution
  • Upon evening close we carry out a fogging application of Vital Oxide to disinfect the office and store

Dining Room

  • We have adopted new “best practices” to ensure the safest dining experience possible
  • While operating our restaurant with takeout and delivery, we ask that you adhere to social distancing rules and follow the directional signage to ensure safe traffic flow by entering the building from the office door and exit out of the dining room door
  • Floor signage to maintain social distancing
  • Servers/Hostess will be masked
  • A Plexiglas guard has been installed around the till area for safe payment
  • Prepayment options available for contactless service
  • On deliveries, drivers are masked and gloved, dropping off at the door
  • End of service, this area is disinfected with a fogging application of Vital Oxide

Store/Bar/Public Bathrooms and Other Guest Areas in the Lodge ~

  • Have a daily cleaning and disinfecting maintenance schedule using a combination of Lemonex disinfectant and  bleach and water solutions
  • Where social distancing is not an option our staff will be masked
  • Directional signage to ensure safe flow of guests and customers in and out of the building
  • Public bathrooms have a Disinfecting Soap
  • Upon evening close we will carry out a fogging application of Vital Oxide to disinfect all areas

Kitchen

  • Has a daily cleaning and disinfecting maintenance schedule
  • Where social distancing is not an option our staff will be masked
  • Food safe disinfecting cleaners, antiseptic soaps and alcohol based hand sanitizers used

Shore Lunch & Laundry

  • Have a daily cleaning and disinfecting maintenance schedule
  • Hand sanitizing station located outside of the building
  • Where social distancing is not an option our staff will be masked
  • Disinfecting cleaners including Lemonex and bleach/water solutions, antiseptic soaps and alcohol based  hand sanitizers used

Vehicles

  • Disinfected with Germosolve 5 at end of use
  • Where social distancing is not an option our staff will be masked

Fish House/Garage

  • Have a daily cleaning and disinfecting maintenance schedule using a bleach and water solution
  • Alcohol based hand sanitizing station located outside of the building
  • Where social distancing is not an option our staff will be masked
  • To ensure safe distancing protocol, we asked that you not enter the fish house while staff are cleaning fish

Base & Pelican Docks

  • Alcohol based hand sanitizing stations located at the ramps
  • Where social distancing is not an option our staff will be masked

Boats

  • Have a daily cleaning and disinfecting maintenance schedule using a bleach and water solution
  • Where social distancing is not an option our staff will be masked

Outpost Camps & Flying

  •  Masks will be required for boarding the float plane
  • Our staff will wear gloves and masks  while loading and unloading aircraft
  • Upon each parties departure there is a cleaning and disinfecting maintenance schedule for the cabin, fish house and boats using Lemonex and a bleach and water solution
  • Where social distancing is not an option our staff will be masked
  • After each change over, we will carry out a fogging application of Vital Oxide to disinfect all areas of the cabin

Fuel Station

  • Sanitizing procedures using Germosolve 5 or bleach and water for disinfecting commonly touched surfaces such as the fuel dispensing handle, the reset button, the on/off button, the safety switch and the clipboard/writing utensil after a single use.

Staff presence while on Shift

  • All employees have been trained on possible COVID-19 hazards In the workplace and what steps are being taken to protect them and how they can protect themselves including frequent hand washing and not touching their face
  • In every area that staff work in, they will have access to alcohol based hand sanitizer, antiseptic soap, masks and gloves
  • Where social distancing is not an option our staff will be masked
  • When needing to interact with the managers, they will have a designated location in which to have a conversation so as not to interfere with guest service in the office and social distancing protocol

Cabin Cleaning

  • All American Plan Package cabins have a daily cleaning and disinfecting maintenance schedule
  • Upon each parties departure there is a cleaning and disinfecting maintenance schedule
  • There will be one cleaner per cabin provided with PPE for protection going into a cabin
  • After each change over, we will carry out a fogging application of Vital Oxide to sanitize all areas of the cabin
  • Disinfecting cleaners used include a bleach and water solution, Lemonex and comet with bleach.
